    Default dagesh question

(As a Hebrew beginner) I have a question.
The Hebrew verb laqah is treated as a Pe Nun verb in the Qal. In Gen 14:12 there is no dagesh f. in the 2nd radical, though there is 'l' assimilation.
In Gen 39:20, however, there is one in the corresponding root letter of the verb natan. I know that in some consonants dagesh f. is dropped when they have a vocal sheva, but that is not the case here.
Who is willing to lend a helping hand to an inquisitive and enthusiastic BW user?
    Thanks in advance,

    Default Dagesh

that is not the case here.
It's not? Look at it the occurence in 14:12 as it should be with the dagesh forte, yiqqechu. That e there would indeed be a vocal schewa, otherwise it would be a consonant cluster of qoph qoph het, which is not permitted.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for your quick reaction. It's quite clear now.
