Compile problem

Hello BW 10 users,
I've been compiling a Bible text for BW 10 for a long time. I write the text with Notepad++. After each longer piece of text, I update with the Database Compiler. This has worked well for a long time. But suddenly the umlauts and special characters are displayed incorrectly in BW, although they are displayed exactly in Notepad++. Can someone help against the problem?

Hello Klapehau,
It looks to me like you are compiling from a unicode file. BW requires an ASCII file. To get an example of the ASCII umlauts that BW recognizes you might export a few verses that have the umlauts you need from a German version in BW. (Export them as .txt, not .bww or .rtf) I don't know Notepad++, but in Notepad you can specify the encoding scheme when you save the file.

Dear Jim, Thank you very much for your reply. My problem seems to be very complicated . I followed your advice, but without success. I am therefore attaching 2 more screenshots, maybe that helps? Different text encodings can be set in Notepad++. I chose UTF-8 and think that it is ASCII. The text is also displayed correctly in the editor, but not in BW10 (instead of ä,ü,ö and also ß,`,' strange characters appear!) Perhaps you have another idea?

Dear Pete,
UTF-8 is unicode. I am not at all an expert on encoding, but I think that it should work if you select "Konvertiere zu ANSI". I think that for this situation "ANSI" = "ASCII". I don't know if this will help, but the BibleWorks "keyboard" button (6th from the left on your first screen shot) shows the location of the umlauted vowels, and the sz character when entering German in the Command Line.
