Newbie question regarding English/Greek layout

Hi,

I am using Bibleworks 10 on an Apple MacBook. I am busy doing a Masters in Theology, New Testament, at the University of South Africa.

In the browse screen, it shows me a single verse, and the Greek text beneath it.

If I search for a pericope or a chapter, I get the whole section, and then underneath it, the Greek for the section.

Is there a way of setting it up so that for a portion, I see English verse, Greek text, next English verse, Greek text, etc, etc, etc?

See if the Parallel Versions feature does what you want. Go to Tools > Viewing the Text > Parallel Versions Window

Hi Tim,

You can use the spin buttons at the top right of the Browse Window to change verses. If you have a single verse displaying, with (for example) an English version and a Greek text below it, this display format will continue verse after verse by using the spin buttons.

You can also have one version (for example, an English text) in the Browse Window as the search version, and display browse mode using the browse button in the upper left corner of the Browse Window, and then display the Greek text in the Browse Tab in browse mode on the right side. This display will be very similar to the Parallel Versions Window.

I suggest watching the BibleWorks YouTube videos. They will offer a lot of suggestions for how to use the program in ways that will be beneficial to your study.

I was in the Tools > Options area trying to figure how to make my Browse Window return to default colors, no highlighting, can't find it. I'm grateful to whoever might troubleshoot me...again. (You guys are great. I considered selling out but these forums are better than support options over at the other place.)


Wanted to place a screenshot here but keep getting a message telling me my attempted post is 27,000 characters and would I please shorten to 25000 characters. Attempted a different browser and same thing.

Try typing the letter 'e' while the browse window is active. It turns version difference highlighting on and off.

Looks to me like you have "Morphology Color Tagging" enabled. The "default" sample control file that shipped with BW10 colors BNM verbs with red letters on pink background, WTM verbs with red letters, WTM nouns with dark blue letters, GNM nouns with Green letters. This feature can be powerful (I sometimes use it when reading Wallace's grammar, to highlight specific things in his examples), but annoying when you don't want it. (I assume you get the fancy formatting only in Greek or Hebrew versions that have morph tagging.)

Menu item Tools / General / Morphology Colors. Uncheck "Enable Morphology Color Tagging".
