Why do you think it is corrupted? Did you mount the iso aind run BWCheckDisc.exe? That will tell you if any of the files are bad? That is the place to start.

I'm sorry for taking so long to respond. Seems like I forgot to subscribe to the thread :-S.
The ISO is definitely bad -- it's not mountable or burnable at all. So I'd like to repeat my initial question whether it is still possible to get a v9 ISO somewhere.

I would have updated to v10, but missed the last possibility, so I'm stuck with v9 and no way of reinstalling it.

Before giving up on the ISO download 7-zip and install it. Use 7-zip to extract the files in the ISO to a folder. If it does not work, that confirms that the ISO is bad. If it does work run BWCheckDisc.exe in the folder. It will identify which files are bad. Then if you can find someone that has installation media for that revision of BW9 they may be able to send you a single file rather than trying to get the entire ISO from them.
If no bad files are found, try installing using the files in the folder.

Yesterday I thought I would download the latest ISO and then update the BW USB drive installation disk. However I ran into a surprise when I couldn't remove write protection and update it. Has anyone tried to do this and had success? I tried the two main methods most websites point to (using the DOS Diskpart, and changing Regedit storagedevicepolicies). Thanks for the help. Kyle

Since you mention DOS I will assume that you are running Windows. I just inserted my BW installation flash drive that I ordered just before BW closed. It is not write protected. I copied a file to it and was able to delete it. Do you have some security setup that invokes write protection for USB drives? Could you test the drive in a different computer to see if it works there? Did you discover the write protection by trial and error or did some message inform you of the problem?

I would try inserting a different USB drive into the computer and see if you could copy a file to it and then delete it.

You could try formatting the drive. If you plan to download the entire ISO to it, the drive cannot be formatted Fat of Fat32. The drive from BW was formatted Exfat. Minimum size for the drive is 32GB.

If worse comes to worse, I have used this drive from Amazon to download the ISO to. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUWZ6J6 It is only $10 with Prime. It is not the fastest USB drive but works OK for storing the ISO download and occasional installation of BW.

Hello, friends!

We've posted an updated BW10 ISO file. I don't advise you download it at this point unless you have lost your installation media. The reason I advise delay is that a) there is no rush to get the file, and b) if people clobber the server (the file is 22GB) it will likely come down and then nobody will be happy, and c) the ISO file will likely be updated again. There is nothing significant that is new in this ISO file if you have kept up with the updates. Furthermore, updates to the EXE continue to be posted in the in-program updaters. If you were up to date on July 24, 2018, don’t get the ISO. If you do a BW10 reinstall after July 24, 2018 you should do it from the ISO, not old media.

The links to the updated ISO file are on the webpage. The ISO file requires you have valid BW10 activation codes to run it. So, don't waste your time downloading it if you don't have legitimate activation codes.

There was no place to enter an activation code. I began the download and it started as it normally does. I immediately cancelled it to save bandwidth. There was no message about a download limit.

Why don't you try entering the link above into a browser and see if that works? For most people the download works best when a download manager is used. So you could enter the link into the download manger instead.

My wife and I have owned BibleWorks for 15 years or so, complete with BDAG and other unlocks.

I'm attempting a new install on a new laptop from the ISO (what is 'ISO'?) file in the title. The ISO install doesn't work, appearing to be corrupted files. Hitting the 'Retry' and 'Ignore' buttons during the install does not work either.

I've read this thread, attempting to learn what to do, can't quite figure it out, but with a little coaching I believe I'd be okay.

We still have our USB thumbdrive copy of BW10 and are wondering if we should simply go back to that, however with one or two attempts to install from the ISO file, we now have a Bibleworks folder at

C > Program Files (86) > BibleWorks 10

but the install was not far enough along to actually create a program at

C > Settings > Applications

so we cannot delete the program there.


Therefore if we were to attempt another install from the thumb drive we're not sure what would occur. Any suggestions?

ISO is a kind of file that packages other files together. The BW10 ISO contains all of the files needed to make a complete installation of BW.

Open File Explorer and find the BW10 ISO that you downloaded. Double click on it. A new temporary drive (usually D:\ or E:\) will be created. Find that drive (if it doesn't appear automatically). Double click on Setup.Exe (the application) and the BW installation window should appear. If it does and works well, good.

Sometimes when you begin an installation that did not complete, it makes it difficult to complete an installation afterwards because what is already there interferes with the new installation.

If that happens, it may be possible to clean out the old and then a new installation should work.

If the BW installation window offers three options (modify, repair, delete or remove) choose delete, then reboot the laptop, then try a fresh installation as above.

Do not used the thumb drive to install BW. It has been deprecated. New installations of BW10 after closing should only be made using the ISO.

You're likely correct in that a failed first installation may be interfering with the new installation...in fact, there were two failed installations from weird stuff.

The new BW setup file installation window doesn't readily offer repair, delete, or remove options, that I can find. There was some kind of 'modify' option, but when I tried it, that one only allows one to add to the current installation.

I ran the 'Check BibleWorks Media Integrity' option. I don't understand what it is reporting, although I think it says we're good. This would only confirm that the failed installations corrupted my drive. Attempted to upload a screen shot of what that looked like, but can't get it to upload.


Would editing the registry in order to follow the rest of your instructions work? We're using Windows 10. I am comfortable with that. Found BibleWorks in one place only: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\B ibleWorks
