BW10 Installation image posted

Hello, friends!

We've posted an updated BW10 ISO file. I don't advise you download it at this point unless you have lost your installation media. The reason I advise delay is that a) there is no rush to get the file, and b) if people clobber the server (the file is 22GB) it will likely come down and then nobody will be happy, and c) the ISO file will likely be updated again. There is nothing significant that is new in this ISO file if you have kept up with the updates. Furthermore, updates to the EXE continue to be posted in the in-program updaters.

The links to the updated ISO file are on the webpage. The ISO file requires you have valid BW10 activation codes to run it. So, don't waste your time downloading it if you don't have legitimate activation codes.

Hello,

I have downloaded the ISO as I managed to lost the installation media due to my own error. When I try to run setup.exe I get the following message:

This app can't run on your PC
To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.

When I try and access the setup through autorun I get the a message that the SETUP.EXE programme cannot run due to incompatibility with 64 bit version of Windows. It suggests contacting the software vendor to ask if a 64 bit version of the program is available.

Can anyone suggest a solution to the problem?

I worked out why the SETUP.EXE wasn't working. I had unpacked the ISO file rather than mounting it.

I just used 7-Zip to unpack the iso to a folder. I double clicked on setup.exe and the installation program began as expected. In case anyone wants to unpack the iso to a folder that utility appears to work. It can be downloaded at https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1805-x64.exe. It is a free program. A 32 bit version is also available.

I ran BWCheckDisc.exe to check the integrity of the unpacked files and they all were OK.

The MD5 hashes also matched the set of hashes in post #9 of this thread. That set was created from the iso mounted as a drive.

I inquired about this soon-to-be latest ISO file when I first received news that BibleWorks was closing a couple months ago. I didn't receive a clear answer to these questions: what happens if a reinstall of BW10 is needed in the future, and one doesn't have access to the internet for activation (but does, have copies of the activation codes themselves).

In other words, is it *absolutely necessary* to have an internet connection (and, for that matter, for the BW website to continue in operation, in order to be accessed for the sake of activation) in order for a future reinstall of BW10 to be completed, say a year or two from now?

What if the BW website ceases to be? What if a person is in a location with the ISO file and activation codes saved, but no access to the internet? Does this newest ISO file take any of this into account? (All I was told from BW support before the close was something like, "We're working on that... Download the newest ISO when it comes out."

Next, can purchased add-on modules (e.g. BDAG / HALOT lexicons) that require activation still be activated in the future, provided we have saved the activation codes?

The articles below indicate that it was once possible to install BW on a computer that did not have internet access and obtain special codes on a computer connected to the internet. Those codes would allow the computer not connected to the internet to complete the installation process. Unless the process was time sensitive it seems that snail mail, texting, a cell phone, or a non windows computer could be used.

It was also stated somewhere in a post that a way to continue activation (if internet activation would terminate) was being investigated.

The current ISO requires an internet connection for activation. There is no manual option. The activation server is still running and there are no plans to shut it down. It uses very little bandwidth. If the day does ever come that it is shut down, we will provide a way for users to reinstall. In any case the distributed activation codes will always be required for a successful installation and we will still lock out any hacked or pirated codes that we find. Were still bound legally and morally to protect the copyrighted material of other copanies as best we can given the circumstances.

Is there a way to still get v9.0 iso files as well? I never got around to updating and now I found my copy of BibleWorks9rev4.iso seems to be corrupted :-(

Why do you think it is corrupted? Did you mount the iso aind run BWCheckDisc.exe? That will tell you if any of the files are bad? That is the place to start.

If you were up to date on July 24, 2018, don’t get the ISO. If you do a BW10 reinstall after July 24, 2018 you should do it from the ISO, not old media.

Hello, My question relates to the sentence "If you do a BW10 reinstall after July 24, 2018 you should do it from the ISO, not old media."

I bought extra versions of Bible Works 10 for the PC before the deadline date. I have not installed them. I am saving them in case I have a hard drive crash where I am now running Bible Works. If I have a crash and have to build a new computer with a new hard drive, and I want to use my extra version of Bible Works and install it on the new computer, what will I do? When Bible Works was operating, I would install the software and then through an online process verification would take place. Does this ISO file replace that process? I DO have activation codes that I bought and would be using for a future installation like this.

1. If I have to install Bible Works, say, later this year, does this ISO file have something to do with it? (I don't understand the reference to the "image" file. I don't understand what that means.)

2. If I need the ISO file to install Bible Works on a new computer in the future, what process do I follow once I have downloaded the ISO file? How do I point my computer to it? My question is: What, exactly, in clear simple language, are the steps I would follow assuming I have downloaded the ISO file and am now trying to do a new installation of Bible Works with the activation codes I bought before the company closed?

3 .Also, I have tried to download the ISO file. I have a thumb drive with 29 Gb of free space. The file will not download. I have even tried downloading to an external drive, have tried it on multiple computers, have followed the instructions Google provides for files that don't download and cannot get the file to download. What is wrong?

If anyone responds, please speak in simple terms, without jargon.
