Default Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible + New Dictionary Tab!

    Hello, BibleWorks Users!

We're happy to announce a new, free update to BibleWorks 10. BW10 now comes with the Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible. When you move the mouse over English text in the Browse Window, the related EDB entry appears instantly in the new Dict tab in the Analysis Window:

Here's a little more information on the EDB from its Introduction:

The Eerdmans Dictionary of the Bible is intended as a tool for practical Bible use, reflecting recent discoveries and the breadth of current biblical scholarship, including insights from critical analysis of literary, historical, archaeological, sociological, and other methodological issues. Approximately 5000 entries identify all persons and places named in the Bible, as well as cultural, natural, geographical, and literary phenomena matters that Bible students at all levels may encounter in reading or discussion. Articles explaining and interpreting important focuses of biblical theology, text and transmission, Near Eastern archaeology, extrabiblical writings, and pertinent ecclesiastical traditions have been incorporated in an effort to make this the most comprehensive one-volume Bible dictionary available.

    This is fabulous! but...
    I updated to 10.0.5.884.
    Restarted.
Updates window appeared with option for the next EDB. Clicked and applied.
Restarted but no DICT tab in the Analysis Window.
The EDB does show in Resources / Dictionaries and opens fine from there.

Are you sure there is no dictionary tab? It is easy to miss (The tab label is just "Dict").

Same thing happened to me. BUT, after some investigation, I FOUND MISSING BW10.EXE in the _patchtmp folder. I copied all the files stuck there to my BW10 folder, and everything worked great!!!

Thanks to Gilbert's hint, I looked in the _ptchtmp directory and found the updated files. Something must have gone wrong in the update, and they got stuck there.
Apparently when that happens, BW thinks it's updated, but it really hasn't.
Like Gilbert, I simply copied/overwrote the _ptchtmp files into the main directory.
Now BW indicates that I'm using 10.0.5.981, and the DICT tab is visible.

That's very odd. I reposted the executable, but we'll wait and see if others report the same glitch before looking further. Is there anyone reading this for whom the update worked smoothly?
