    Please do, David.
Very glad to know the question raised is going to be handled at the new "source" of the text.

    Thank you all.

And, I agree I think someone should inquire about this very , issue before it finds it's way into other editions of the Hebrew Bible/Tanakh or at least that some documents, and notes this issue in newer editions of the Hebrew Bible/tanakh giving a short reason for it.

I have checked the following 8 other editions(edit: now 9 editions) of the Hebrew Bible / Tanakh ...

    1. Letteris Hebrew Bible / OT (London 1852) pg 1290
    2. Ginsburg Hebrew Bible/OT (London 1894 /1998 ) pg 1698
    3. Snaith Hebrew Bible/OT (London 1958) pg 1274
    4. KorenTanakh ( Jerusalem 1966)
    5. Breuer Tanach ( Jerusalem 1989)
    6. Art Scroll Tanach (Brooklyn 1996) pg 1898
    7. Aron
Doton, Biblia Hebraica Leningradensia (Peabody, Massachusetts 2001) pg 1146
    8. JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh 2nd edition ( Philadelphia 2004 ) pg 1911
    9. Jerusalem Crown (Jerusalem 2004) pg 819

    and two of them has
the repetitive athnach at 1 Chronicles 10:1. Namely, Hendrickson Publishers Biblia Hebraica Leningadensia edited by Aron Doton (picture one) and the JPS Hebrew-English Tanakh 2nd edition (picture two). Here are screen shots of those editions:

Thank you for your diligence, Brian! Brian, do I understand then that the other 7 editions that you checked have the correct Mahpak accent?

I have used the contact form at academic-bible.com to begin the conversation. Hopefully, they may be able to forward it to Prof. Talshir. I referred to this thread (which I believe can be read but not replied to without a BibleWorks logon), which she may find helpful.

    That is correct.
Seven out of now nine editions read the way we would expect, but now I have discovered one more printed edition that has the issue. I have edited my post above and added a 2nd image.

Interesting discussion - it made me login after a very long time.

I believe that the German Bible Society has at some point corrected the issue, but possibly without letting, say, the Groves Center know about the correction.

My printed copy of BHS is dated 1997 and the error is corrected there.

    Regards,
    David.

I've made a report to the Groves Center about the error.

It's amazing after all these years (decades now), errors are still being found. The good news is that with digital files, errors stay corrected instead of new ones introduced with every hard copy printing...

Ah, very interesting. If you could post a snippet from a scan that would be great. My print BHS is the 1984 reduced-size edition. But if it's fixed now, then presumably it will already be correct in the work being done for BH Quinta.

Sure, here is a scan of the page from my copy of BHS.

Thanks, David. I see that the pagination and lineation seem to be identical between 1984 and 1997, but that the erroneous accent has been corrected. So somewhere, someone caught it.

I haven't heard anything yet from the message I sent. I may not, since it seems the problem is already solved.
