A few minutes ago I ordered BibleWorks 9 (upgrade from 8), and can hardly wait for it to arrive (mid-July?). One question, though: it appears the New English Translation of the Septuagint (2009) will not be included in this version as well. Is there any chance this much requested version could be included soon in a module? Would it do any good to beg? (Luke 8:30)

Yes, but it really depends on how many BibleWorks users you can get to petition this idea. The more you recruit the better your chances of getting this implemented. It would be nice to have a recent translation of the LXX in BibleWorks. Being that the NETS is already available (Link) online in Electronic format I sure it would not be too difficult to enter it into BibleWorks.
I would also request the EOB translation as well.

the EOB is made available in various formats with limited copyright restriction, especially to canonical Orthodox institutions and individuals. The EOB also offers a more authentically scholarly and Orthodox translation of the New Testament while using familiar Orthodox terminology and expression.

It is presently unlikely that we will be able to include this version any time soon. We could certainly license it as a module but we have a long-standing policy of not selling Bible versions as modules. The text of Scripture in any language should be free, especially when no printing costs are in play. To implement this policy we have to absorb the royalties on all Bible texts and can pay large royalties (which we do for a few) only on items that have very high demand. This has more advantages than disadvantages for the user. You get, for example, in BW9 seven Greek NT transcriptions that should cost more than a thousand dollars. We considered very seriously selling the transcriptions as an external module to try to recoup some of the costs. The only reason we didn't was because I don't want to compromise this policy. SO the policy has an up side. And it enables us to go to publishers and negotiate base package royalties that enable you to have a large selection of versions. Just pick out your most used English versions. If we sold them as modules they would cost you more than the entire package does not. On balance I think we have chosen the correct path. We are sorry that is has a small down side.

Of course NETS is free to produce their own BibleWorks compatible version. Our format is open. But we wouldn't sell it ourselves.

Not wanting to quibble too much about this policy, but hasn't it already been "compromised," or am I missing something? On www.peshitta.org, it asserts:

The Peshitta is the official Bible of the Church of the East. The name Peshitta in Aramaic means "Straight", in other words, the original and pure New Testament. The Peshitta is the only authentic and pure text which contains the books in the New Testament that were written in Aramaic, the Language of Mshikha (the Messiah) and His Disciples.

One of the modules currently being sold at BibleWorks is the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Database (APNT, $29.00).And what about Abegg et al.'s, "The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible: The Oldest Known Bible Translated for the First Time into English" (QBSET, $30.00)? Mike, it's your company, and a fine one at that (I've been a loyal customer from almost the very beginning: am I the first to order online 9.0?), but please offer the NETS (a translation of a translation) as a module and be done with it. Accordance has it, and so should BibleWorks, and the sooner the better.

Can you say 'yes and amen' to that?! (that is, the NET as a module, but I'd take the NETS as well)

While I'm not the "first to order online", I am no less as addicted to BW8 as one who's been with BW for that long (i.e. past few years using it for research, papers, and now daily study.... think '97 Chevy, 350 engine or '92 Accord- you drive them enough, take care of them, and you get to know them inside and out so much and realize how great they are you never want nor need to have anything else).

I love my NA27/NET Diglot, know Drs Harris & Wallace, and would sure love to have NET Module on BW8 (and BW9 which I hope to order/upgrade to after soon consulting my better half). OK, I'll be grateful!, yes, thanks for the ESV module! jwb

Wait I think there is a little misunderstanding here, you see...

BibleWorks has and has had:
NET (New English Translation/Protestant Bible) update (version 9)
NET Bible with notes and maps (from version 7 & 8 and free of charge)

BibleWorks does not have:
NETS=New English Translation of the Septuagint
Or, the far superior EOB= Eastern Greek Orthodox Bible Translation.

The Good News, is that if you have version 8 you already have the NET.

I was wondering if any of the beta testers could comment on the linking issues discussed in this thread. Essentially it is the problem with trying to link to Logos 4 with BW supplying the lemma. I think the problem is that BW needed to supply unicode in order to make it work.

Just wondering if this is addressed in BW9. I suspect it is not, but was curious if this change might have been put in?

Here's what you need if you wanted to lookup the word ὅτε in BDAG in Logos. You would need the command:

or
logosres:bdag;hw=ὅτε
or
logosres:bdag;hw=οτε

I've tried all sorts of things (including the lang=el and indicating beta coding), but I can't get it to work.
No problems passing a verse or English word through...
