Smile Bible Works 8 on a Mac!

Hi there, I just installed Bible works 8 as an Apple app on my mac mini using winebottler. I thought people might want to know that it does work. However I am a beginner user so time will tell whether it all runs smoothly.

I am just wondering if anyone else has done this and if there are any problems? I do have one issue in that the US english keyboard says it has not installed! Will have solve that although I can still type in english.

Some staff at my church have turned to mac but want to keep their windows software. I do have parallels 5 but couldn't copy and paste into the mac environment which was annoying as I have done all my Bible college (the Shepherds Bible College NZ) essays on the mac.
Well I hope this helps. Im a beginner at all this and usually its trial and error and loads of forums later I figure things out.

    Blessings to All.

I am not sure why you can not copy and paste from BibleWorks under Parallels into Mac Software. I do it every day with no problem.... I have done it into all MS Office, Pages, Keynote, etc. ARe you sure it does not work?

    Default BibleWords on Mac

I would be interested to know if you've been able to access the Windows Help File resources (things like the grammars) from within BibleWorks....those normally need an external reader. If I touch one of those resources while running BW in Wine, the program crashes. Also....does your toolbar work. I've read others who have managed to get it to both appear and work, but I've never had the magic touch.

You've tried Parallels, I normally use Fusion 3. I do a lot of copy / pasting and it seems to work well for me. Your mileage may vary. For me the BW / Mac combination (however one gets it to work) is the best of both worlds.

    Welcome to the fraternity.

    Default Bibleworks using WINE

OK I'm only using Bibleworks 6.0 but within Wine (Wine Bottler) it works perfectly, I only got around to installing Bibleworks recently after leaving off years ago because Virtual PC was so horrendous, and having to keep Windows in good order etc.

6.0 runs perfectly, smooth, all functions I use are working. It is smooth, no lag Copying and Pasting into Apple iWork (Pages) is no trouble apart from a little care needed with Hebrew (if you paste it into the editor first seems to work OK).

I am so glad I finally got around to installing this again. I have missed it. I never wanted to install Windows, and always heard Wine was hard to set up. Not now. Wine from Winebottler is easy really easy, just install like a normal app. and then drag all your Bibleworks data into a Wine folder..click the .exe and you're done!

Perhaps someone will be able to say how much change there is between 6.0 and 8.0 engine wise. I have no idea.

    Default BibleWorks8 on Mac

    Hi everyone

I read the post about BW running on a Mac. I'm totally clueless on how to install... it sends an error message about "Prefix creation aborted".

Anybody able to help? Maybe reference to basics?

    Thanks a lot.

Get BW 10 as it has a Mac installer built in. There is a Mac installation specific Youtube video that provides the details. BW 10 on a Mac is so much better than messing with BW 8 and wine or crossover.
