Default Typing English Diacriticals, e.g. macron

I use user notes extensively and type in comments. But I cannot see an easy way to type in diacriticals in Roman type (I use arial). For example an "a" with a macron. I openned up the keyboard but don't get anyhelp. I really miss something like Words insert symbol!!

If you're using XP, using the international keyboard driver allows you to type some of the needed letters. You could write your own driver with the following tool:

When I get around to it, I'm thinking of doing the same so writing transliteration is easier.
