View Full Version : Old in the New

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,

I hope I'm not asking a question that has already been addressed. I ran a quick search but wasn't able to find anything on this topic.

I'd like an easy way to mark a text in the notes area when an OT passage is either quoted or alluded to in the NT and vice versa. Does anyone know an easy way to do this other than just doing each one by hand?

Well, there is not an automated way of entering information into a NT note file every time an OT passaged is quoted, etc.

However, you can use the Synopsis Window to see these. Even better Jeff Jackson has already created one.

Go to http://www.jeff-jackson.com/ and download the OT Quotations and Allusions in the NT Synopsis file for BW.

Save the file in your BW 6\init directory

Then within BW open tools - Synopsis Window

Within the Synopsis Window go to file - open

Open the file you just saved from Jeff's site.

Hope this helps.

This synopsis tool is great! Thanks for doing this. Has anyone developed categories of OT quotes in the NT? For example, which ones quote the LXX, which are allusions, etc.? How about statistics, like how many of the quotes are from Gen, the pentateuch, etc.?

Some time ago, I also wanted a list of OT quotations in the NT. And I was able to search and find such a list. Upon just checking again, it is still online for reference. Michael D. Marlow published such a list, with some annotations of the kind of reference. It can be found at this pair of URL's:
