View Full Version : Perseus mirrors?

I love the fact that BibleWorks has added a feature to search for Latin and Greek words at the Perseus website. This helps integrate two very helpful sources and opens up doors to explore the Greco-Roman context of the New Testament.

That being said, is there a feature where one could choose one of Perseus' mirror sites?

The "Tufts" site gets pretty slow, because it's the first one everyone goes to, but there are mirrors in Berlin and Chicago (and I think other places) that are often faster due to less traffic.

Hi Jim,

You can modify the ShellExec.txt file in the init directory to add links you like.

If you know the address to the mirror sites you should be able to use the Tufts' entries as a template and add anitional link entries.

What is the address to one of the mirror sites?

Thanks Joe for the reply. I'll try this out sometime today...hopefully. In the meantime here are the mirrors for Perseus:

Berlin, Germany: http://perseus.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/
Chicago, Illinois: http://perseus.uchicago.edu/

I just replaced each instance of "www.pereus.tufts.edu" with "perseus.uchicago.edu" and it works like a charm!

Thanks Joe!
