Is there a way to copy Chinese text out of BW into MS word/powerpoint? Every time I do it, the result is a bunch of funny characters. Or, the chinese copy/paste function is not working yet b/c of unicode?

Please advise. Thanks!

Yes, I can quite imagine that you have these problems.
The reason may be the internal encoding of the Chinese text in the text file you are using - there is GUOBIAO for Simplified and BIG 5 for Traditional characters.

In MS Office versions lower than XP, character display may not work at all in case of copying and pasting. In MS Office 2003 and better, it may work if you use the unicode utf8 file format. All depends on the the original encoding of the file you are copying from.

A work around may be that you copy Chinese text to a Chinese word processor first (like NJSTAR Chinese WP at http://www.njstar.com, downloadable freely as shareware), and then save the file in utf file format. Then, paste it as utf-8 to MS Office application.

I am doing the same whenever I copy Chinese text, and I am doing that almost each day!

Hope this could be of some help!
