Another copy and paste problem

As of June 15, 2018 BibleWorks ceased operation as a provider of Bible software tools. The old BibleWorks web site, activation server and forum are gone. This new forum is intended to provide a way for the thousands of people still using BibleWorks to communicate with one another. Click on "General BibleWorks Discussion" above to view messages.Or you can jump directly to two topics of general interest to everyone:

Welcome to the New BibleWorks Forum
How to Activate a New Installation of BibleWorks 8,9 or 10.

To post to this forum you must register your account. After you register and accept the TERMS OF USE, you will be sent an e-mail immediately. You must respond to this e-mail within two days and be activated by an administrator before you can post. This is necessary to limit the use of this forum for spam.

We get a LOT of forum registrations that we cannot activate because we got no response to the confirmation e-mail that was sent. A few are returned as undeliverable and we assume that they are spammers. We have no way of knowing if the other confirmation e-mails were even received. If you registered and never received the confirmation e-mail, you can send a message to forum@biblework.com. But check your spam folder first. Of course you are free to browse messages without registering. You just can't post to the forum or respond to messages.

Another copy and paste problem

Post by ChrisSpark »

Hi, hope this isn't a stupid question, but it may be!
Recently, for reasons I don't understand, whenever I copy out of the browse window (with ctrl+C) it automatically copies into Word, even though I have checked the option to copy to clipboard (this is checked on all my copy options, including the 'selected browse window text' one.
Any thoughts about what I might have done to cause this? Didn't use to be an issue.
thanks, God bless

Chris,

I've never seen that one but make SURE that in the SEARCH window the Copy dropdown box has Copy to Clipboard set for all of these dropdown selections:

Copy Verse List+Text
Copy Selected List Verse
Copy Browse Window Verses

Okay, you have done this. But I don't know which action Control-C actually takes.

Let's assume you want to copy a verse list and its text. Go to the Copy dropdown and select Copy Verse List+Text. Then paste it and see if that pastes what you expect. I think this is what I remember when I experimented with this a while back.

If it does, then select something else and do Copy followed by Repeat Last Copy Command. Now paste it. It should be what you expect.

Anyone else have an idea?

I don't know if this will help, but ...
There is another place where copy from Browse Window options are set, and I don't know how they interact with the options on the Copy drop down in the search window.
Go to Main Menu (top of BW window) / Tools / Options ... / Output Format Options / Selected Browse Text
and make sure that the "Clipboard (and drag/drop)" line is selected.

Thanks for those suggestions.
I did indeed have all those places checked as copy to clipboard (both in dropdowns and in the tools/options... window).
I tried the process you suggested DL, and it didn't change things I dont' think - when I use ctrl+C it still copies immediately to Word. But it has shown me that I have another option - I can right click and use the drop down menu (either 'copy selected text/copy to clipboard' or 'repeat last copy command' and it doesn't paste automatically that way). It's weird and less than ideal that ctrl+C no longer works the way it used to, but at least this second option is not too laborious and won't slow things down too much.
Appreciate the suggestions. God bless

ChrisSpark,
The automatic option change likely originated with Microsoft. The editor is a Microsoft control. But there are 3rd party keyboard managers like Key Manager that may allow you to override default key functions.

Hello,

I have had Bibleworks since V5. I have always been able to hover over an English word in the NAU text and the Greek or Hebrew word appears in Analysis, then I copy the Greek or Hebrew word - cntrl c, and then paste the word in the command line of a Greek or Hebrew lexicon cntrl v, and then I was able to see the word come up in all my lexicons. But now ever since I got version 10, when I paste the word into the lexicon the word does not come up, but a long string of letters instead of bringing up the word in the lexicon, so I have been pretty much unable to use my lexicons. I know there might be other ways to look up an English word in the lexicon, but copy and paste is so much easier and I can't figure out what the problem is, anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

Hello Gary,
You might try this:
Main menu at top of window
Tools
Options ...
General
Fonts
in "Select Font Set to Edit" (upper left corner) select "Export Fonts"
in bottom left corner un-select "Export Greek Resources (...) as Unicode"
in bottom left corner un-select "Export Hebrew Resources (...) as Unicode"

This worked for me.
I don't ordinarily use lexicons this way -- I find the Greek or Hebrew word in BNT or WTT (even though I don't know Greek or Hebrew -- the Analysis display of Strongs information helps recognize the word) and then all the relevant lexicons display in the Analysis pane.
