If you receive a message that says "This version of BibleWorks is time limited" you need to reactivate your installation, exit BibleWorks and follow the procedure outlined above.
There is some confusion, especially among non-English speakers, about what I mean by the SUBJECT line. I get a number of requests that put the serial number and name in the message area. The messages are processed electronically and I cannot afford the time it takes to manually edit e-mails. Messages that do not follow these guidelines will usually not be processed. If you do not receive a response, please reread this topic. To be as clear as possible I will give a sample submission. Wen you send a message using most e-mail programs, the screen should look like this:
From: Your Address (not editable)
To: reactivation@bibleworks.com
Subject: BW10####-####-####-#### Your Name
[Message text
.................
.................}
If all goes well, you will receive an e-mail with a link to a zip file containing a replacement executable. Please read the instructions in this e-mail carefully. If you do not receive a response please keep the following in mind as you compose a new request:
- The old address activation@bibleworks.com has been retired because it is referenced in the original activation screen which allows manual and internet activation. Those instructions are no longer valid. Some people send messages to that address without ever reading this topic. So in the future please use only the new address reactivation@bibleworks.com. Please do not use this new address for anything but activation requests. If you do not receive a response in a couple of days, check your e-mail spam folder. If you have questions or comments please post them here. Don't send them to reactivation@bibleworks.com. There is no staff here to provide that kind of support.
- Please do not submit multiple requests. You may wind up with broken links to the downloads. When you send a second link the first zip file will be deleted. But if an e-mail has already been sent, it will have invalid links. People who send a large number of requests with the same serial number may be temporarily black-listed.
- If you received the replacement executables and copied them to the BibleWorks folder, and are still receiving the old activation screen that mentions internet and manual activation, this means that you did not replace the original executable. You may have copied a link to the new files and not the actual files. Check the date on the bw1000.exe (or bw900.exe, etc.). It should be 2025 or later.
- There have been problems with some e-mail addresses being blocked by institutional e-mail handlers. This has been a pronounced problem with e-mails to and from Germany. You may need to whitelist e-mails from BibleWorks. There has been a similar problem with people who have locked down their e-mail so that it will receive e-mail only from whitelisted sources. If you have done this you need to whitelist reactivation@bibleworks.com before sending the request, so you can receive a response. I will not respond to automated requests for me to ask permission to send an e-mail. Of course, if you receive no response please also check your spam folder.
- The SUBJECT line of the e-mail must contain only your BibleWorks program serial number (no spaces) followed by a space and your name. No other text is permitted. A typical SUBJECT line should look like one of these:
BW10-ABCD-EFGH-IJKL-MNOP Your name
BW10ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP Your name
Replace the serial number and name with your own serial number and name. The dashes in the serial number are optional and can be deleted, but not replaced with spaces. The first four letters could of course be "BW90" or "BW80" depending on which version you are activating.Please keep the length of "Your Name" within reason. The name of a person is preferable to an organizational name if that is possible. Requests for activation of versions prior to BibleWorks 8 will not receive a response.
- If you submit a properly formatted request with an invalid serial number, you will receive an automated e-mail to that effect. I receive a lot of requests from people who purchased a pirated copy with an invalid serial number, one that exploited a weakness in older versions of the program. If you received a package with special installation instructions it is probably a pirated copy. The only instructions that came with the original package were to run the setup program on the installation media.
- The SUBJECT line cannot contain any non-ASCII characters. This means, for example, that there should be no Chinese or Roman characters with accents in the SUBJECT line. If you think that the subject line looks fine but you have not received a response after a couple of days, please recheck the format of the text in the subject line. Be aware that, for example, a space and a non-breaking space look the same visually, but are different characters. I received one request in which the initial 'B' was actually the Greek capital letter Beta. So the serial number failed validity checks even though it looked fine. If you are unsure, type the serial number in by hand rather than using cut and paste.
