Greetings All,
I think I followed Mike's instructions but seem to have missed some step because I cannot get BW up and running.
Here is what I've done.
1. Downloaded media, clicked on setup, and used the trial period for a week.
2. Uninstalled BW due to an unrelated problem with windows on this computer which HP tech support resolved.
3. Downloaded and installed media again, restarted computer.
4. Downloaded 4 activation files posted by Mike and stored these in a folder including: bw1000, bw1000_es, bw100064, and bw100064_es. None of these were in a zip file when downloaded if that matters. I don't think any of these were locked but I would not really know for certain.
5. I copied the files into c/programfiles/bibleworks by dragging and dropping them. They appeared in the file folder amidst the other files. I made sure not to let them drop into a subfolder. Then I restarted BW.
6. The BW Activation dialogue box opened, and my correct serial number automatically appeared where it needed to be entered. At this point I seem to be stuck. The "Activate by Internet" button is live but does not work. The "Run in Trial Mode" button is not active, so this is no longer an option. The "Cancel" button is active, but of course, canceling does not get the program going. So this is where I get stuck.
Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance.
Steven

One more thing...
I opened the program file folder and attempted to start BW by clicking on each of the activation files provided by Mike, however, I still end up at the same roadblock in the Activation Dialogue.

Re: Hitting a wall with reinstallation of BW10
Hi Stephen,
I can't provide further help at the moment, but please re-read Mike's email message. You should not get the old activation screen. Follow each instruction PRECISELY, starting with the download. Download them again PER MIKE'S INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. Every word is important. (Mike is a programmer, and that is how he thinks and writes.)
I think it will work for you if you do each step exactly as stated. I'll check back here later to see if you had success or not. We will get you up and running again!
Blessings,
Glenn

If you are seeing that screen it means that you are running the old executable. They were not replaced by whatever you did. It looks like you copied links to the new files rather than the files.

For those of you who don't know, Glenn was a content developer for BibleWorks for many years. He did a great job for us.
Re: Hitting a wall with reinstallation of BW10
Thanks for Everyone's help here. So when I open the BW file I see all the components from the original BW10 here. Mike's instructions read:
"You are receiving this message because you requested a BibleWorks update to allow you to install or re-install BibleWorks 8, 9 or 10. To do this install BibleWorks from your distribution media, run the program and exit when it asks you to activate the program. Then click on this link to download a zip file with a new executable:"
So then, which icon do I click on in this file folder to "run the program?"
Previously, I was clicking on "Setup." It seemed intuitive to use that icon to run the program. I think this is where I am making a mistake.
Thanks!

Re: Hitting a wall with reinstallation of BW10
Steven,
You are making this more complicated than it is. All you are doing is replacing the executable. And if that is done you just resume using BibleWorks. You start it by clicking on the BW shortcut. You should be running bw1000.exe (the new one moved to the BW folder) not setup.exe.
Hope this helps.

Re: Hitting a wall with reinstallation of BW10
I finally got BW installed on my new computer (Thank you, Michael). But I forgot how to create a shortcut to my "desktop." All I can find in BibleWorks help is shortcuts within BibleWorks. So I have to go into "My computer programs to click on the BW1000.exe file. What can I do?

Don't hesitate to start a new topic. That makes it easier for others with the same question. This isn't really a re-installation problem.
To create a shortcut on the desktop, open the BW folder and find bw1000.exe. Right click on it and select "Create a shortcut" and follow the instructions. Then right click on the shortcut and click on "Add to Start" and then "Add to taskbar" (if you wish).

Re: Hitting a wall with reinstallation of BW10
Thanks for your reminders. There are so many options after right-clicking on the bw1000.exe file that the one for "create shortcut" was off my screen. I had to click on "show more options." Once windows created the shortcut, there were no instructions. So I just found the shortcut in the BW10 directory and dragged it and dropped it into my task bar. I'm all set.
