Re: Activating BibleWorks 8, 9 or 10
Good evening. Staying strong with BibleWorks. My computer just died, and my new computer arrived today and I tried to install BibleWorks, but ran into the activation problem. I followed the instructions and sent the email, and I have been checking my spam folder. How long does it usually take to receive the email response?
Thank you so much!

Re: Activating BibleWorks 8, 9 or 10
I am trying to reactivate my Bibleworks 10 (activation code BW10QCSTEDH2KV5EG58D). I tried to reinstall it yesterday and it seemed to download everything (about 10 minutes) stopped at my credit card info. But I already paid for it years ago, so I did not complete installation. I had installed it in its own drive F:, which I just deleted so there would not be confusion if I reinstall. Give me what I should do. I recently had my entire computer and backup drives nuked by a virus, so I feel vulnerable as hades. I am going to have to get a new Word365; it cost me $281.00 just to reinstall Windows11 on my computer.

Dear Mike, thanks so much for continuing to assist those of us who love BibleWorks. You might remember me because I reviewed BW9 for Christianity Today way back in 2015. You helped me install BW on my new desktop PC has summer.
Now I have a new "laptop" (Surface Pro, Win 11) and need to install BW there. I am following the directions in the email you sent me yesterday. I had only 3 questions/make sure of's.
1. I installed BW from my disks until, pretty soon after beginning, it asked me to enter the activation code. That's what you mean by "activate the program," right? So the program itself has not been installed yet.
2. I should run the program (I've only begun installing, though) and at that point I should "exit." Does that mean close the installation window? At this point there is no Bibleworks folder.
3. Then click on the link and download a new executable. What I found at the link is not a zip file, but just one file, bw900.exe. I guess it has just been updated since the email was written.
4. But when I click on the bw900.exe file, it immediately says that four .dll's are missing. (PATCHW32.dll, zlib1.dll, Unzip32.dll, and SSCE5.dll) Searching online I see that I can find and download those .dll's from a number of sources, but need to be careful because some bring malware.
Advice?

Not quite. When you install it will ask for serial numbers. Let the process continue from that point and install BibleWorks. The install program will finish. Then run BW and it will give activation options. That is when you exit BW and follow the e-mailed activation instructions.
Sorry that isn't clear.

Re: Activating BibleWorks 8, 9 or 10
Thanks, Mike, I appreciate your help. I'm having trouble getting the external DVD player to even play any disks, when connected with the Surface, so I haven't been able to install my old set of disks. So I tried copying the BW folder on my desktop and installing it on the Surface, and I got that far. I see in that folder two .exe files.
The one named bw900.exe asks for my email address and serial number (activation number, I assume), but tells me that one of them is wrong.
The one named 9.0.12.860-bw900lg.exe says I'm missing PATCHW32.dll, zlib1.dll, Unzip32.dll, and SSCE55532.dll. I am really in over my head.
When I sent my earlier post, a couple of days ago, I had actually succeeded in getting Disk 1 working. I had gotten to the point of selecting which versions I wanted to load. Immediately after that screen, it asked for the activation code. I entered the original one that came with the software, and it rejected it and stopped installing. If you have any ideas about how to proceed, I'd be grateful.

Re: Activating BibleWorks 8, 9 or 10
I wonder if the reason it is telling me the serial number is wrong is because you helped me install this same software on my desktop last June. Did you give me a substitute serial number then? Maybe not--when I check Help > About Bibleworks on my desktop, the Serial Number it shows is the one on my original software box, not a new one.
