When I used ".01241" I got the right verses, but the highlighting was consistently wrong.
When I used ".*@01241" I got the same verses, but with correct highlighting.

If you haven't yet done do, I suggest you take a look at BW help "The Command Line - Introduction" (Section 34 in BW9), subsection "Looking up Strong's Numbers Codes". It shows how to do some neat things with Strong's numbers.

I tried your search, which is correct if using the NAS, but got very strange words highlighted in the search window. I checked many of the verses and each verse I selected in the search window showed 01241 in the NAS with Strong's numbers turned on in the Browse window. BW staff will have to give an answer about the strange highlighting.

Got beat to the answer by 3 min.

I was using KJV; when I used NAU and NAS I got the same results --
    the correct verses with incorrect highlighting using just the Strong's number;
the correct verses with correct highlighting using "*@" before the Strong's number.

    I am using BW9, version 9.0.12.509, in Windows 7.

If you have the same version, it may be that your ini file is corrupted -- that seems to be the cause of a lot of problems.

When I use .*@01241 with NAS everything works correct.

    .*@01273
    .*@01274
    .*@01286
    .*@01304
    .*@01307

I think the reason is that Strong's numbers were developed for the KJV.
Your 5 examples are all present in KJV.
The NAU/NAS tagger chose other numbers in these cases.
If you search for these numbers in KJV, also displaying NAU or NAS, the Analysis pane will help explain things.

For the last 2 in your list, NAU added a lower case letter to the number, so in NAU ".*@01304?" will find the NAU equivalents.

For Strong's numbers, search on .*@01241 for Hebrew and .@*1241 for Greek.
