Default World's oldest complete Torah believed found in Italy

I found this interesting, particularly the changing rules for writing the Torah, which helped pinpoint the date of composition.

Thanks, Jim. Good article. I wish they elaborated about which specific rules were changed/implemented in the 12th century.

    ISalzman,

In the 12 century the Rambam effectively standardized the writing practices for the Soferim when he laid down his own in the Hilkhot Sefer Torah.
The Scroll in question does not conform to Rambam's rules regarding the taggim (crowned letters) and it uses an older eastern script.
