    Default Version Description Files

    All,

There was an BW update available in the Automatic Updater today called "Version Description Files." The description of this update file said that it would make "the version descriptions compatible with BibleWorks on the Mac." I only have Windows devices. Can anyone tell me whether I should or shouldn't apply this patch? (I did not select it this morning.) Grateful for any direction. Thanks.

It absolutely can do no harm. We replaced some tables in some of the description files with tabbed lists. The Crossover library can't handle RTF tables yet. It's on the development list so this is an interim solution.

Thanks, Mike. Sorry to prolong the thread. But, while it can do no harm, would you still recommend that Windows users apply the patch? Or should we (I) just ignore it? Thanks in advance.

No need to apologize. It's a reasonable question.

We recommend that all user apply all patches, unless they involve versions that are of no interest. In this case we have now merged the patch in question with the executable patch, so the question is no longer relevant. We did this to make things easier for the Mac users.

The patch replaces some tables with tab-delimited lists, which actually may look a little better anyway.
