Cross Version Search-mode not searching outside Biblical texts

Hi all,
For some reason, I cannot get the Cross version search-mode to search outside Biblical texts. I am trying to reproduce the search here: http://www.bibleworks.com/classroom/3_09/index.html
but get this:



Suggestions to what I am doing wrong?

Another thing: Is it possible - when searching for a Lemma (and thus in the M-bibles etc.) - to have the regular texts displayed and not the morphological ones? I would be really cool if you could search the m-texts but browse the results in the regular texts. As I see it, the M-texts are displayed upon a full search in for example all the Greek texts.

By the way, I have Josephus and Philo installed (regular and M-versions), so they should produce results as well.

Everything seems to work fine for me. Do you possibly have search limits on? When I did the search I chose the option "Search and Display all Same Language Versions".

I believe this would be in the Options menu. Go under General | Flags | [Check] Automatically Make morphology versions display versions.

Regarding Michael's suggestion about browsing regular texts after searching M-versions, the "Automatically make morphology versions display versions" option is specifically under Browse Window Configuration Options in the Options - General - Flags dialog. I just experimented very briefly, and couldn't see that it made a difference.

But there's also the option "Maintain search version after lemma search." Do you use single-version mode in the Browse window? If so, try checking that "Maintain search version" option. That seems to keep the non-M-version displayed after a lemma search for me; e.g., if I have BGT selected as the search version and do a right-click, Search on Lemma in the Browse window, the lemma search will occur in BGM but BGT remains displayed in the Browse window, and the next time I do a search I'll be back in BGT.

- My problem was exactly that I searched with limits on ...
- And the way to have the regular versions displayed only upon lemma searches is to: (a) uncheck "Automatically make morphology versions display versions" + (b) check "Maintain search version after lemmas search".

Cudos til BW; they have thought of it all.

And: Is the difference between your version of the Ante-nicene fathers and the version in BW that yours installs as a regular searchable version and not as a help-file module?

You are correct. The only way it would be better is if we had morphology versions for the Classical Greek databases as well. There is one for the Homer-Hesiod texts because another gentleman put them together. I have never tried to make morphology versions though, it's simply too time consuming -- I don't have enough technical know-how to make it an automated process, even though that is theoretically possible. But between getting the big LSJM lexicon for BW and using those texts, you can go a lot farther into the Greek language than you can with BW alone (which admittedly already allows you to do a whole lot with Philo, Josephus, Apostolic Fathers, etc.)

You don't *need* to update your book name file, but the databases usually are a lot more useful if you do. Generally the zip files should have some note in them (usually in the form of a readme file) that tells you what you need to update in the book name files. You could even change them further to correspond to Danish names you'd be more familiar with.

The difference between the Ante-Nicene (ANF) database is that it was an early attempt to put the ANF texts from the help module into a version that could be used in the browse window. It was a collaboration that was done many years ago now and is not currently active. What I have done instead is started working on the Church Fathers databases as of late. Those are attempts to provide both original language and English translations of Church Father texts and very often the only English translation available (without copyright problems) is the ANF text.

I'm currently working on adding all of Tertullian's works to the CF-E and CF-L files. Not sure how long it will take though. We just had our first baby a week ago, and, cute as she is, she's taking up an awful lot of my spare time
