    IstMon58,

There have been a couple of threads addressing this error. Since the BW staff is so busy with the release of BW8, they haven't had time to address the problem yet (they have a small staff so a new release inevitably leads to a lengthened response time for problems with previous versions, so try to show them some mercy). The same problem happened to me, and you can fix it by either starting Bibleworks and going under "file" and then clicking on "Checkpoints," followed by "Restore/Delete checkpoint." This will take you back to your previous checkpoint before you installed the update.

If you can't stay in the BW program long enough to do this, then either hold the shift key down when you double-click on the BW icon, or right-click the icon and click on the "Run as administrator" option in order to go to a previous version. Doing this will not delete any user notes or files that you have recently added.

    Default unrecoverable error (089954-6)

This error occurs when the program tries to access a module that has been installed with a pirated unlock code. If you receive this error and you are positive that you have not installed any modules with illegal unlock codes, please contact BibleWorks support and we will try to figure out why you are getting the false alert. This error is intended to make life as difficult as possible for people who try to use pirated software. To remove the alert and restore the ability to get updates, reinstall BibleWorks from scratch using only legal unlock codes.

Please keep in mind that we try very hard to keep prices low. Just add up what is in BibleWorks and see what the package would cost using prices from other vendors for the same content. But we have to pay salaries and a very large royalty burden. We never charge for Bible versions or material in the public domain, no matter how much it costs us to scan, proof and format them.

We cannot continue to stay in business or keep prices low (especially in this struggling economy) if more and more people feel they have a right to the fruits of our labors without compensation. Software piracy is rampant. That does not speak well for the Church as a whole, because most of our users (both legal and illegal) are professing Christians. With regard to the modules, keep in mind that some men (Danker of BDAG fame is a good example) have spent their entire adult lives working on tools to help you. They have to eat and their publishers have to eat, or the tools will stop coming. I know this stuff is expensive. But they are tools of the trade. A carpenter needs good tools. So do Biblical schlolars. But no carpenter thinks his hammers and saws should be free.
