I am building 6 greek bible: Griesbach, Lachman, Tregelles, Alford, Wordsworth and Scoltz with "version database compiler".
    I have finished Matthew 1:1-25:
But comparing Bible txt (on paper book) with electronic bibles (also Bibleworks's stephanos 1550, scrivener, von soden, and less Tischendorf) there are some mistakes principally in accents position and final nu).
It is very difficult to correct many greek bibles!!!!
    A question:
How many reliable are electronic bibles for Textual Criticism scholars???

I imagine that it depends on where you are getting the electronic Bibles from. If they are from the internet they likely do have a number of errors because one person (or group) scans a written source (or types it) into a digital source, they will not be 100% accurate. Even a "scholarly" source like Perseus has errors in their databases that I've found.

You can try emailing tech support about it. There are two possibilities. 1. They started with a text that was inaccurate or 2. The text was accurate but during conversion some of these problems developed. (this seems to have happened in other places like with the Nova Vulgata and even the VST before). So it is possible that a solution might be easy.

Your other option would be to contact the originator of the e-text:

    Contact
The editor welcomes suggestions for corrections. He can be contacted via electronic mail:
    tischendorf *@* gcyale -period- com
Since you know more about Von Soden's text than anyone else here (since no one else has looked at these mistakes), you might be the best person to talk to him about it. Then you should be able to figure out where the errors are happening.

As far as other texts. I see the Scrivener and Stephanus texts say that accents were added by BibleWorks. Now they may have gone through and compared word by word, or else they could have used other databases with accents to add accents to these editions in which case it is possible that errors crept in.

    Default Greek Texts

Most of the Greek NT texts in BW are derived from the editions produced by Maurie Robinson. These are vey accurate but you have to be aware of certain issues. First, his texts were unaccented. We supplied the accents electronically by comparison with other texts and we are aware of the limitations of this. Second, Robinson made certain changes to facilitate comparison among editons, inlcuding some spelling changes for proper nouns and addition/removal of moveble nu (this explains most of the errors reported above).

As a part of our manuscript transcription program we have produced totally new editions of Westcott-Hort and Scriveners, carefully proofread multiple times. We believe these to be the most accurate electronic texts of these texts available anywhere. They will be released with our initial manuscript project offering, probably early next year.

    Hope this helps.

    Mike
