Update: BibleWorks Executable (7.018f)
Date: 03/03/07 at 10:34:00

This patch contains the latest BibleWorks 7.0 program executable. (1) This patch fixes some problems saving BibleWorks editor files containing text copied from HTML Help files. Backup any BW editor files before using this version to save them. (2) Tweaks some Hebrew accent positions.

There is an operating system bug that affects copying text from an HTML Help or Internet Explorer document to an RTF control (including WordPad). If the source text has an internal hypertext link (a jump to somewhere else in the document), the link is garbled when it is transferred. The RTF editor cannot handle the garbled link. The symptom is that every time the file is saved it grows in size. In BW this affects some text copied from external modules into the BW editor. Getting a fix from Microsoft is virtually impossible and will take anywhere from months to never. We implemented a workaround that intercepts the text before it is saved by Windows, fixes the garbled text, and then saves the file. Once the file is saved by BW it should be OK even in WordPad. We have tested the fix and not seen any problems, but we do recommend until it has been tested by a wider audience, that you back up any files edited by BW before using the BW editor in this release. That is why this is a "preview" release. Let us know if you have any problems. We don't expect any though.

This is a PREVIEW version intended for TESTING purposes. To access the update you must enter the word "preview" (no quotes) in the Updater Access Code Window, accessed from the Options Menu. If you are not comfortable running a preview version you can wait until the changes are tested and a non-preview version is posted. This will usually not take more than a day or two.

If you have problems with this update please post a reply to this message on the BibleWorks Forum in the Program and Database Updates section. If you post a response elsewhere we may not see it. Please do not use this section to post messages about anything but this update.
