Default Can a search limit include partial verses?

I want to set a search limit to include all of the Gospel of Mark except for the shorter and longer endings. The glitch is that the BGT text includes the shorter ending within Mark 16:8. Is there a way to define the search limit so the shorter ending is left out, in other words, for part of a verse?

Export Mark, cut out the section that you don't want and use the Version Database Compiler to compile a "shorter" Mark. There would be no other way to not search one part of the verse, but not the other.
