Link BW8 w/ Logos 4 TDNT?
Hi all
I was happily linking to TDNT in Logos 3 via the external link manager from the instructions in this thread, but then I thought I'd take a look at Logos 4 and ... now my links won't work.
The link will call Logos 4, but it won't work anymore. I saw something in another thread saying that Logos 4 links are problematic. Is that still true?
It also appears that the link will only call Logos 4, not Logos 3 ... if I can't get the external link working in L4, does anyone know how to make it point to L3?
Thanks!
back to the subject at hand
I got a reply tonight from the Logos forums which included this information:
Quote:
Logos 4v1 creates links to headwords in TDNT, and the exact syntax depends on the selected index within TDNT. Some examples:
Link1 = logosres:tdnt;ref=GreekStrongs.246;off=534
Link2 = logosres:tdnt;hw=$CE$B1$CC$94$CE$BC$CE$B1$CF$81$CF $84$CE$B9$CC$81$CE$B1
Link3 = logosres:tdnt;ref=TDNT.Vol._1,_Pg._267;off=1578
Link4 = logosres:tdnt;ref=VolumePage.V_1,_p_267;off=1578
For the example of Link2 above, I do not know what the hex-bytes are about. I do not know if they are some internal hash code for that resource, or if they are Unicode for the actual Greek Lemma. I have not attempted to see what if anything I get if I use pairs of hex codes and assume they might be Unicode characters. I expect someone will document or explore that one day. If its an internal raw code, then the only way to get a valid reference will be to have Logos4 create it for you. If its a "simple" mapping to Unicode of the lemma, then an external application or program script could, in principle, build such a link.
I wonder if that information might help in enabling an external link via BW?
Is it possible to turn the lemma BW currently exports into some kind of hex code that Logos4 would accept?
Or alternatively is it possible to send a Strong's number from one of the English versions that have embedded Strong's numbers?
Links to Logos now working
In the latest release of Logos 4, the link issue was fixed. Just thought I would let those interested know...
