It distresses me that so many seem willing to embrace a "translation" born in oath-breaking, and born of a hostile political fad.Quote:

IN HAPPIER NEWS, going off the thread-title -- historical precedent indicates that, when the updates to BW slow to a bare trickle, the new version is not too far away. One can hope! I myself hope for a user-friendlier version with an editor that doesn't crash on me so often.
Just a couple of quick bullets:
Sorry for not fully developing these arguments.
- I don't think that using, studying, buying, learning from a translation constitutes embracing an oath-breaking publisher.
- I haven't seen any evidence that they actually introduce any heterodox teaching into the text of Scripture.
- Why would we categorically eschew the advance in scholarship this translation represents?
