3.5 running on XP

I'm trying to run BW 3.5 on Win XP Pro with all updates.
I am getting errors or the program will simply freeze.
I tried deleting the bworks95.ini file and have uninstalled, deleted folders and reinstalled with the same result.
I tried running the exe in compatibility mode.
