Is there any significance in a`marti,aj being proceeded by a definite article in the writings of Paul, particularly in Romans? For example, Romans 6:18,19,20

Follow-up question: What would a search formula look like that would find all occurrences of a`marti,a with article and b) without article? (After all these years with BW, I'm still morph-search/ASE challenged . . .) It would be interesting to see if other writers (Gospels etc.) use a`marti,a with and without article interchangeably. Looking at the mere quantity of material in Wallace, articles are tricky little critters.

Enclosed are two simple ASE queries; one that will find all occurrences of amartia WITH the def article (sin_with_defart.qf) and one withOUT the def article (sin_without_defart.qf).
On the second query, the one withOUT the article, note that in some cases a substantive will be included with amartia which may contain the article, and you will have to determine how it may be applicable to your own questions.
These files should be placed in the ASE folder.
One should almost never read anything into the definite article in Greek, as the Greek language has many other ways of emphasizing its statements, and the definite article is almost never one of them.

I also might add, that the query WITH the def article finds only those occurrences where the def article IMMEDIATELY PRECEEDS the substantive.

Thanks, Scott, for the ASE input. Makes sense.
