Greetings!

For some time I've wanted to mention the following good news. I've searched in the forum and haven't seen any mention of this. If there is, sorry for the repetition.

The first fascicle of the Biblia Hebraica Quinta (BHQ), the Megilloth (the "five festival scrolls": Ruth, Canticles, Qoheleth, Lamentations, Esther), was published in 2004 by the Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, and is easily available. To purchase:
http://www.dbg.de/shop/index.php?Content=produktdetail&ID=5837
or
http://www.scholarly-bibles.com/en/

It's not cheap: with shipping it cost me 58.37 euros (= US$76.00).

This is a "basically" diplomatic presentation of Leningrad B19a (Introduction: "...the text printed... will be the text of [B19a], even when this shows obvious errors. The corrections will be noted in the appparatus..."). It contains the "little" and "great" Masorah as found in B19a (i.e. not as edited by Weil for the BHS). The critical apparatus (exegetical and text-critical rather than exhaustive), the notes on the same, as well as commentary on the masorah fill a long-felt gap (But careful! I've already spotted some errors in the references to Ginsburg). According to the introduction, the commentaries will be placed in a separate volume when the BHQ is complete, so these fascicles will continue to serve a purpose of convenience.

While this is not a directly BW matter, it is one that concerns the BW users interested in the Hebrew Scriptures.

I'll be happy to try answering any questions (also off-forum paterdr@hotmail.com).
