Simple Search?

Hello,

I think this should be an easy one, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I'm trying to run a command line search in BW v. 5.0 that finds all verses containing a word but excluding a particular phrase. For example, I want to find all verses containing any form of the word "peace" but exclude verses that contain only "peace offering" or "peace offerings".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I understnd correctly, the following should do what you want:

.peac* !offerin*

This should find all instances of words beginning with "peac" and then exclude those verses that have words beginning with "offerin"

Thanks for your reply. But won't your suggested syntax exclude all verses containing the word "offering", even if the full phrase "peace offering" isn't in the verse? In other words, I don't want to exclude a verse just because it has "offering" in it, and not even JUST because it has "peace offering" in it. I want to exclude it if "peace offering" is the ONLY occurrence of "peace" in the verse.

(peace*).!('peace offering*)
