View Full Version : Confirmation for Possible Bug: Bible Outline

06-25-2009, 06:14 PM
I can't seem to get my Bible Outline popup window to appear. I have it available as a toolbar button, and it is also available through Resources > Misc. > Bible Outline. Clicking on it seems to do nothing.
I do have the outline headings appearing correctly at the top of my Browse window. Clicking on the option arrow at the right of that line does show the other outlines available. I am able to see each of them. (For English, you have the choice of the NIV outline or the 'outline' which is Metzger.) I can also 'Configure' them and open them for editing.
BUT, the outline popup does not appear as I remember that it did and as section 47 in the Help indicates.
Can others confirm this possible bug? I am running BW 8.0.011c.1.

Are you saying that the outline doesn't open from the Resources | Miscellaneous menu when you click it?

It that's what you're saying, then no, I can't reproduce it. IOW, it DOES open when I choose it via the menu.

Yes, Adelphos, nothing opens for me. I tried restarting and now I get this, and this sure does not seem right...

Something's messed up.

No, that's obviously not right. I don't imagine it's a big deal, though. It could also be a setting your configuration instead of a BW issue, thought BW will have to tell you for sure.

Had to mess with my Registry to get Flash properly reinstalled.
Now BW starts without that error message, but I still can't get the Bible Outline popup to appear. Will check w/ BW folks. Thanks.

This morning I was prompted to update the macromedia flash player. Every since then, whenever, I open BibleWorks, it displays the message you posted in an earlier post saying the BibleWorks needs to update the player. What did you do to correct this problem?

That's interesting that you hit the same problem...
Are you able to get the Bible Outline popup to work?

To get the flash player working, I had to use IE (not Firefox) starting HERE (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/). Try the "Agree and Install" (and remember to uncheck the Google Toolbar if you don't want it). If it works, you should be fine. (You will need to allow the ActiveX control to run.)
If you get an error message saying, "...see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html", read that page. It apparently is a common problem, and you will probably need to go HERE (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html) and follow the directions carefully. It involves getting a SubInACL tool, then getting a reset_fp10.cmd file and running it, then going back and running the installation of the flash player.

Hope that works and that your Bible Outline popup still works.

My Bible Outline Pop-up never stopped working. I just had a problem with BibleWorks continuing to want to update the Flash player, even after I unchecked the box as instructed. However, I have Gary's Utlities and after running the Registry repair module the problem cleared up.
