The DVD media gets a read-related "cyclic redundancy check" error over half way into the Setup (DVD, BibleWorks 8). This is happening on a Dell Optiplex GX-280 tower's CD / DVD read drive (combo).

I guess you should contact Customer Support. See http://www.bibleworks.com/support.html. It is inevitable that one or two DVD's out of a large order may have problems. They will help you.

There was another thread about an install problem involving a crc issue. Try looking up this faq.

I had the same problem, and the suggested help to copy the files to the hard drive didn't work for me. The file wouldn't even copy to my hard drive.

See this thread for how I was able to install: http://www.bibleworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3491

Some things you can try:

1. Clean the disk. Finger prints can cause misreads.
2. You can try copying the disk files to your hard drive and installing from there. If you can't do that try another computer. If you can find an old Plextor drive, they are much more forgiving. Check the surface of the DVD very carefully under a good light.
3. There are utilities out there which enable you to control the speed of your DVD drive. Slowing it down might help.
4. If it is a bad disk (they happen) support will send you a replacement free of charge.
5. Disk drives do get out of alignment over time. Are you having trouble with other disks?
Hope this helps a little.
