Sorry if this comes through twice: I need to convert BW fonts to SPIonic for the publication of a paper. Can anyone tell me how I might go about it? It is a bit complex because it is not a cut-and -paste job -- I have already spent a great deal of time amending texts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

This may be too late for your paper, but you can export Greek from BW in SPIonic into your word processor, assuming you have SPIonic on your computer.
In BW "Options" click on the "Fonts" tab. In the upper left hand corner check the circle next to "Export Fonts" and be sure "Activate Export Fonts" is checked. Then in the "Font Set" Greek line click on SPIonic from the drop-down list (I happen not to have it on my computer). If it is unicode click the "Unicode" box to the right of the Greek line. Click "OK". You may have to close BW and re-open it. But this should help you in the future for exporting Greek text into your papers.

I've tested this and it seems to work flawlessly, but back up your files before you do the conversions. BTW, I'm assuming that you are using MSWord. It's going to take two steps:

1) You need to convert the BWGRKL to Unicode. Use John Kendall's Word macro on this thread: http://www.bibleworks.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2174&postcount=12
(An alternative macro here: http://www.bibleworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1545&highlight=bwgrkl+unicode )

2) You need to convert Unicode to SPionic using the Greek Transcoder, a free program that works as MSWord document template. Download it here:
http://www.greektranscoder.org/

Let us know if it works.

But please be aware that my macro doesn't work in footnotes. I hope it's of help.

Okay, I've organized all the Greek font converters I know of HERE (http://bibleandtech.blogspot.com/2008/09/greek-legacy-fonts-to-unicode.html).

Hi all
I am in the pains of doing the same due to a publisher who will not accept anything but SPIonice ...
One thing: will the Greektranscoder work with Word 2007?
When I open the .doc-file, I can see the macro but 'due to safety' I am not allowed to run it.

How do you install the Greektranscoder properly, and does it work in word07?

Thanks
Morten

It sounds like you need to enable macros. In Word, click the button in the upper left corner>select "Word Options"> select "Trust Center">select "Trust Center Settings">select "Macro Settings" and select the option you want.
