The installation of BibleWorks will not complete successfully at times, resulting in an error message or an apparent stall of the process. We believe this stall is caused on a few computers by a complex interaction that occurs between BibleWorks, InstallShield (a non-BibleWorks installation program) and an individual's CD-ROM drive.

Although the InstallShield installation program may not be able to keep a CD installation from stalling on certain computers, we have found that a successful installation will be achieved in these cases if the BibleWorks CD data is temporarily copied from the CDs to the computer's hard drive.

The stall can be overcome (and the installation performed) in almost every case simply by (1) copying all the contents of BibleWorks Program Discs 1-5 or Program Discs 1-6 (that is, all the Program Discs (depending on what revision of BibleWorks you have), but not the Module Disc) to a single temporary folder on your hard drive; and (2) executing, from that folder, the file "setup.exe".

For those customers who are not comfortable with doing a Windows copy and installation as just described, we've provided HERE (http://www.bibleworks.com/support/kb07042.html) an illustrated, detailed step-by-step procedure on how to do it.

Once in a great while this process will reveal that a particular CD is not able to complete a Windows copy. This is an indication that the CD is bad and we ask that you contact BibleWorks (http://www.bibleworks.com/support.html) to receive a replacement CD at no charge.
