BibleWorks is a Windows-based program and thus requires Windows to run. It will not run natively under Mac OS X, Linux, or any operating systems other than Windows. It is possible, however, to run BibleWorks on a Macintosh computer in one of the following ways:
1. Create an Emulation Environment
Create an emulation environment under the Mac operating system for another operating system, in this case, Windows. Once such an environment is created, it will be possible to install and run BibleWorks without leaving the Mac operating system. Some emulation programs that provide this function are Parallels, VMWare Fusion, Virtual PC or CrossOver Mac. For some of these, it is necessary to obtain a copy of Windows.
2. Install Windows as a Native Operating System
On some recent Macintosh computers (those with an Intel processor) it is possible to install Windows as a native operating system. Typically one will set up the computer with a dual-boot configuration, using a facility like Bootcamp, to allow one to run either the Macintosh OS X operating system or Windows. BibleWorks can then be installed and run on the "Windows" side of the computer.
The General BibleWorks Discussion Forum (http://www.bibleworks.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2) contains numerous posts on experience of BibleWorks customers running BibleWorks on Macintosh products.
