The installation of the BibleWorks can be performed with a number of easy to perform steps. To ensure that the process ends with a successful result, that is, a program that will run, the following steps should be taken.

1. Close currently running programs
It is not necessary to disable programs such as anti-virus scanners or other system utilities, but other programs such as word-processors, email programs, or other productivity programs should be closed before performing the installation process.

2. Remove previous versions of BibleWorks
If a previous version of BibleWorks is installed on the computer, it should be removed first (detailed instructions appear here (http://www.bibleworks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2560)) before starting the installation. Use the version's setup program or the Windows Add/Remove Programs utility to perform the uninstall process. (The folder in which the program files are stored will remain after the uninstall. If there are Notes files, user-created databases or other user-created files, they will remain in this folder.) Restart the computer when the uninstallation is complete.

3. Install the program to the computer

Insert Program Disk 1 into the CD or DVD drive to start the installation. If the installation does not start automatically after the drive door has closed, it may be necessary to start it from the RUN line in Windows. Find the RUN menu in your version of Windows and enter the command
x:/setup.exe
(The letter x represents the actual drive letter for your CD or DVD drive.)
When the installation gets underway, follow the prompts to make choices related to the installation, then exchange CDs as prompted for them.
(If a CUSTOM installation has been selected, some disks may be skipped if elements on them were not selected for installation.) When the installation process has completed, you will be prompted to restart the computer again.

4. Run the VistaFix Patch*
*If the computer is running any version of Windows Vista, and the installation media indicates that it is Revision A01, be certain to run the VistaFix patch BEFORE BibleWorks is run for the first time on it. (BibleWorks 7 Revision A02 media already have Vista compatibility built in. If your installation media is a DVD, or consists of 6 numbered program disks, not including the Module Disk, then you have Revision A02.)

5. Run the BibleWorks Updater
Many updates and additional resources have become available since BibleWorks was first released, and they are made available via the update process. With so many updates available for download, it may be a good idea to do so in stages. Select and apply the latest BibleWorks executable file, then when BibleWorks has begun again, go back to select other available updates. Repeat this process until all desired updates have been selected and applied to your copy of BibleWorks.
