View Full Version : Why Don't Greek & Hebrew Fonts Work for Me in Windows Vista?

Some who have installed BibleWorks 4 or 5 under Windows Vista have found the Greek and Hebrew texts do not display correctly, as they had when the program was running under an earlier version of Windows.

The solution suggested for this condition is to download and install the latest version of the fonts for each of the two languages. To do so, take the following steps. (If BibleWorks is running, close it first.)
1. Visit www.bibleworks.com/fonts.html (http://www.bibleworks.com/fonts.html) to download the file for the latest version of the fonts. Save the file to an easy to find location on the computer.
2. Close the Internet browser window and navigate to the place where the file had been downloaded. The downloaded file is a zipped file, so extract its contents to the same location where the zipped file is stored.
3. Open the Windows Control Panel (Start > Control Panel.)
4. Find and open the FONTS folder.
In Classic View, all icons show, and Fonts will be one of many others.
In Control Panel Home view, one will click Appearance and Personalization in order to access the Fonts folder.
5. Find and delete any font files that begin with the names BWGRK or BWHEB. (There will be several of each.)
6. Hit the ALT key on the computer keyboard to display the menubar for the FONTS window.
7. Click FILE and choose INSTALL NEW FONT from the drop-down menu.
8. In the ADD FONTS dialog that opens, take the following steps:

a. In the FOLDERS listbox, find the folder where the downloaded font files have been stored. (It will probably be necessary to double-click the C drive icon at the top of the listbox in order to view all of the folders on the C drive, then find the folder where the font files are stored.)
b. When the folder has been found and selected (highlighted,) the LIST OF FONTS listbox will populate with the names of font files.
c. Click the font name at the top of the list to highlight it, then scroll to the bottom of the list. Hold the SHIFT key on the keyboard and click the font name at the bottom of the list. The entire list will become highlighted.
d. Click the INSTALL button to install the fonts listed.
e. When the installation is complete, click the CLOSE button, then close the Fonts folder.

9. Restart Windows.
10. Once back in Windows, open BibleWorks and then open each of the language texts to determine whether they display correctly.
