This seems almost to embarassing to ask, I'm about to purchase the additional modules BDAG/HALO, but i'm confused.
I see references in both texts (Osbourne, Hermeneutical Spiral, p68) and term papers to the BAGD. Can someone please tell me if this is one and the same and if not does some advantage lie in one or the other.
Thanks for your patience with a hermeneutical newbie!

BDAG and BAGD are the same thing, almost. BDAG is the newest edition of the lexicon. The initials were switched around to reflect the fact that Danker is now the main editor of the lexicon. While you can still find copies of BAGD around, I don't believe there are any electronic versions of BAGD (the older edition). Some think the newer edition has some flaws in it, but overall I think most people would say you shouldn't be doing serious exegesis without a copy of BDAG somewhere near.

Welcome to the BibleWorks forum, p4r!!

BAGD and BDAG refer to the 2nd and 3rd editions respectively of Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature.

The 3rd edition was done by Danker, so, the "D" moves higher up in the acronym. This is the one that the BibleWorks module contains.

Thank you for clearing that up for me - most appreciated.

As a former BAGD user, and now a BDAG user, I like the layout of BDAG better. Little things, like the bold font in the headers, help a lot. Of course now that I have BDAG on BW7, I don't crack the print edition very often at all.
