It's appropriate to ask this question, because almost all potential BibleWorks customers are in a profession (pastor, scholar, student, missionary, etc.) that frequently qualifies for discounts if they're requested. We don't mind being asked!
In fact, however, the license price of BibleWorks is already fully discounted. BibleWorks operates at cost, as a ministry to the church, and makes its price as low as it possibly can: what a customer pays is what it costs us to produce the product. The company's seven staff work in modest rented facilities and minimize expenses. Should anything be left over, we put it back into the product. Advances in technology and the generosity of our text licensors enable us now to offer well over thirty times the original 1992 content of BibleWorks at only 82% (in constant dollars) of the 1992 product's cost. Comparison with similar products will show what an exceptional deal BibleWorks is.
Although BibleWorks itself, therefore, can't give further discounts to individuals, there are avenues open by which one can obtain a copy of BibleWorks at reduced cost. One is to obtain a used license for a former version of BibleWorks on a site such as eBay. For protection, prior to purchase we invite you to check the seller's name and offered serial number with BibleWorks Customer Support (http://www.bibleworks.com/support.html) to ensure the used license is genuine and registered to the seller.
Alternatively, members of a bona fide group, such as students at a seminary, can benefit significantly (a reduction of $99 per copy) from the saving available in shipping, handling, and processing costs obtained in a single group purchase of 10 copies or more, using the BibleWorks Institutional Promotion Program (IPP). Please check the BibleWorks web site for IPP details (http://www.bibleworks.com/IPP/).
Another avenue for obtaining a BibleWorks copy is to have an editor agree to publish a review of BibleWorks in a theological journal which prospective BibleWorks customers read. We can provide a limited number of review copies for this purpose (details here (http://www.bibleworks.com/reviewers.html)).
Finally, we suggest that if no other avenue appears open the need be committed to the Lord in prayer. As is well known, He will provide His own with the tools they need to do the work He has given.
