The best way to keep BibleWorks current is by using the "Check for Updates" facility (found under HELP > BIBLEWORKS ON THE INTERNET.) Sometimes an Internet connection is not available, or only a dial-up connection is in place. Data download over a dial-up connection can be very difficult.

To update BibleWorks on a computer that does not have a suitable Internet connection, take the following steps:

1. Find aother computer that has a broadband connection to the Internet. (Be certain that there will be a way of saving files to some kind of portable media.)
2. Open an Internet browser window to the BibleWorks website - www.Bibleworks.com (http://www.Bibleworks.com).
3. From the main page, go to the following location -
a. On the main page find the menu in the upper, left-hand corner and click on SUPPORT,
b. Choose DOWNLOADS from the drop-down menu. (The Downloads page should display.)
c. On the Downloads page, click the CLICK HERE link for Program Updates. (The Program Updates page should display.)
d. On the Program Updates page find the link for "BibleWorks 7 Updates" Click the CLICK HERE link. (Another page named Downloads will display.)
e. On this Downloads page instructions direct the individual how to update from within the program. At the bottom of the page is another CLICK HERE link. Click that link at this time. This will open a secondary browser window.

4. In the window that opens one will find the following -a. Information about how to apply updates from the downloaded files.
b. Troubleshooting information to use if the patches fail to install.
c. The list of downloads.

5. To download an item, take the following steps.a. Click on the underlined name of the file.
b. When the File Download box opens, click SAVE.
c. When the Save As box opens, select the drive and/or folder to which the file should be saved, then click the SAVE button.
6. Repeat the above steps for as many updates are needed. When updating a new installation of BibleWorks, the number of files to be selected will be high. Later updates will not be as great.
7. If the items were saved to a folder on the computer itself, move them to the medium on which it will be transported. Either burn it to a CD or copy it to the drive folder representing the removable medium.
8. Remove the medium from this computer and take it to the "target" computer that has BibleWorks but no Internet connection.
9. To apply the updates to BibleWorks on this PC, one can do so from the removeable media, or copy the files to the hard drive of the computer and apply them from there.
10. If BibleWorks is running, shut it down at this time.
11. Double-click the file to execute the update. Repeat for each file that had been downloaded.
Repeat these steps periodically to ensure that BibleWorks is kept up to date.
