We (www.dabar.org (http://www.dabar.org)) have it in English and Latin but have not made the .BWW file with all the disclaimers and copyright notices. Hopefully it will be finished Friday.

Are you working on the Annals too or just the Histories?

We are , God willing, going to do it all. About a module a week. We also just finished book three of Marcus Aurelius - the rest is typed but not proofread. Jill was a fast typist but not always accurate. We also did the a conversion of the Protevangelium Jacobi.

Great! Perseus has a copy of Tacitus as well (from a public domain source, 1911). I will try to get that done tomorrow. Then you can run Text Comparison to catch any other problems. Granted the texts will not agree in all places since they are different manuscripts.

The more the merrier, eh? :)

I finished compiling Tacitus' Annals and Histories in Latin from Perseus (http://bibleworks.oldinthenew.org/2006/08/user-database-tacitus-works-latin.html). You can use this in conjunction with Dan's database -- although for all i know the two Latin texts could be exactly the same. Someone w more scanning time can let me know.

In the AM I will redo the files following Michael's naming convention as that was one area that we had little experience. Also, we were talking of doing Thucidides and I quickly typed the download page. I have to correct the Thucidides to Tacitus.

I just have one problem though, Annal's is missing chapters 7-10 in my version.
Is this from a mistake at my end when I compiled it? (I havn't compiled any versions before, but I believe I followed the text file instructions to the letter).
Is anyone else lacking chapters 7 - 10?

If you find Annals chapters 7-10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annals_%28Tacitus%29), you'll probably earn a PhD somewhere.

Good point!
I had wondered if that was a possibility, but when I looked at the version info it said 21 chapters, and so I took that to mean the chapters were intact.

Maybe one summer we should take a Bibleworks expedition to try and find the missing chapters?

I was browsing the two Tacitus databases. Overall, Dan's is a cleaner copy. The one I offered still needs some fixing. Dan's has a few typos, but mine has a number of words which were split with a hyphen which need to be corrected.
